WEAD Women Eco Artists Dialog

I have been working with WEAD since 1996 and the work has helped direct  my life path.

I have served off and on as chair, helped WEAD achieve non profit status in 2015, became Co- Chair with Minoosh Zomorodina in 2020 and have been Chair since 2024. We have upgraded the website originally built in 2012, developed monthly on line programming, on-line exhibitions and continued expanding our Magazine, Artists Directory of over 600 women identified creatives.  I work with a wonderful Board of dynamic women and we continually move towards more  diversity, international connections and interchange.  Our Art+Science, Art+Activism, Art+Education, Art+Healing series  are expanding and growing.

WEAD Mission Statement

Focusing on women’s unique perspectives we collaborate internationally to further the field and understanding of ecological and social justice art.

Purpose

  • To provide information regarding the eco art and social justice art fields to artists, curators, writers, art and public art administrators, educators in art and ecology, cross-disciplinary professionals and others.
  • To facilitate international networking among artists working with ecological and social justice issues.
  • To further the fields of, and the understanding of environmental and social justice art.

Ecofeminist Art: WEAD does not subscribe to a single definition for ecofeminism or eco art, nor one set of cultural, political, or social beliefs. Instead, WEAD celebrates a spectrum of differences under the colorful collective umbrella called ecofeminist art. Here women speak in their own voices, define their own work and map its place in the world. Together we work toward a just, sane, healthy world for all.
